How It Works: The 50/50 Split
Every contribution made to a wish is divided equally. 50% of your contribution goes directly to our featured charity partner, making a tangible difference in the world. The remaining 50% helps us operate WishWell, ensuring the platform remains safe, secure, and available for everyone to share their hopes. It's a cycle of giving that supports both personal dreams and global causes.

Welcome to WishWell, a global community built on hope, positivity, and mutual support. Our mission is to create a safe and uplifting space for everyone. To ensure that, we ask that you follow these guidelines when sharing your wishes and interacting with others.
1. Keep Wishes Positive
WishWell is a place for hope. Please frame your wishes in a positive light. Instead of wishing for something bad to go away, focus on the good you want to see.
✓ Do:
"I wish for my friend to find strength and recover quickly."
✗ Don't:
"I wish my friend didn't have to suffer from their illness."
2. Be Kind and Respectful
Every wish represents someone's personal hopes and dreams. Treat every member of the community with kindness, empathy, and respect. There is no place for negativity or judgment here.
3. No Hateful Content or Personal Attacks
Hate speech, harassment, bullying, and personal attacks are strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, comments or wishes that are racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory. Accounts that engage in this behavior will be subject to immediate action.
4. Protect Your Privacy (and Others')
Do not share sensitive personal information such as full names, addresses, phone numbers, or financial details in your wishes. Respect the privacy of others by not sharing their personal information without their explicit consent. Remember, you always have the option to post your wish anonymously.
5. No Harmful or Malicious Wishes
Wishes that suggest, encourage, or hope for harm to any person, animal, or group are a serious violation of our guidelines and will be removed immediately. WishWell is for wishing well, not ill.
How We Enforce These Guidelines
Our community members can report wishes that they believe violate these guidelines. Our moderation team will review all reports. Depending on the severity of the violation, we may take the following actions:
Remove the content:
The wish or comment will be deleted.
Notify the user:
We will send an alert explaining the violation.
Suspend or terminate the account:
For repeated or severe violations, we may suspend or permanently close the account.

Charity Contributions: We process contributions to support our charity partners as part of our 50/50 giving model.

Public Wishes: Wishes marked as public are visible to all users. We display only the information you've chosen to share (name or anonymous).
Charity Partners: We share aggregate contribution data with our charity partners but never personal identifying information.
Service Providers: We work with trusted third-party services (like Firebase for data storage) that help us operate WishWell securely.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and community.
4. Your Rights & Controls
Access & Update: You can view and update your profile information and privacy settings at any time in your Account Settings.
Delete Content: You can delete your wishes individually or delete your entire account, which removes all associated data.
Privacy Controls: You have full control over whether your wishes are public, private, or anonymous.
Data Portability: You can request a copy of your data by contacting our support team.
5. Security & Data Protection
Secure Infrastructure: We use Google Firebase's enterprise-grade security infrastructure to protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest.
Access Controls: Only authorized personnel have access to user data, and all access is logged and monitored.
Regular Security Reviews: We regularly review and update our security practices to protect against new threats.
Data Minimization: We only collect and store data that's necessary to provide and improve WishWell's services.

Admin Management
To add a new administrator:
- Have the new admin sign in to WishWell
- Ask them to open browser console (F12) and run:
checkAdminStatus() - Copy the UID line from the console output (format:
'UID_HERE', // email@example.com) - Add that line to the
firestore.rulesfile in the admin UID array - Deploy the updated rules:
firebase deploy --only firestore:rules - New admin should refresh their browser - admin features will appear immediately
Note: Admin privileges are managed via UID whitelist in Firestore security rules for maximum security and reliability.
